Family Counseling

Families play a pivotal role in the process of development for each of its members and it is often the first place where a person may experience a sense of safety, love and support.  When specific needs are not met within a family unit, members may behave in various ways causing a family breakdown to occur. This breakdown is not an indication that the family or a specific member is “bad,” rather an indication that the family is in need of new skills to help it maintain its sense of stability. Family therapy can help with identifying and replacing unhelpful patterns of communication and interactions so that the needs of all members are met.

All family sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes where Family Systems and Structural Family Therapy approaches are used.

Secrets are not allowed in family sessions and teamwork will be encouraged to help families see their desired changes. It is not required, but is highly advised that all members of the family are present as greater impact will be achieved sooner when everyone is committed to doing the work to get back to a healthy family.
